Teen Counseling

Providing help for adolescents in difficult times.

Children growing into adolescence experience several transitions in their lives—leaving childhood behind, physical development, social growth, hormonal changes, shifting from concrete thinking to abstract reasoning, moral development, and spiritual/values exploration. As parents we feel challenged when our child has difficulty at home or at school. We use both talk and activity therapy in working with pre-teens and adolescents dependent on their needs.

Some teens are comfortable talking about their feelings and thoughts while others may need more direction.Activity therapy helps them relax in a casual but purposeful atmosphere. Some examples of activity therapy include art therapy, sand tray, guided topical discussion activities, and games. Pre-teen and teen clients appreciate having another adult to confide in and we meet regularly with parents to discuss your child’s progress and address any concerns.
